Grand Design dealerships
Hi Fellow RVers: For the past year I've been researching 5th wheels. We decided on the Grand Design Reflection 320MKS.
The problem I have is the dealership to purchase it from. We live in the east valley of Phoenix. There's a dealer 4 miles from my house in Mesa called Little dealer Little Prices. This dealer sells Grand Design 5th wheels and my wife and I have been there several times. The problem is they have the absolute worse rating I have seen. 80 % of the ratings are 2 star or less. For this reason I would never purchase anything from them.
The other dealer I researched is in Tucson AZ called Lazy Day Rv.
They have a better rating but still some night mare issues from buyers.
My question is, anyone out there have a grand Design 5th wheel that has had a very good experience at the dealership and got a good deal.
I'll fly or drive anywhere in the US to purchase as long as I have a good experience. Thank You in advance

Welcome to iRV2.
Problem with dealing further away maybe in getting warranty repairs done ; at all ; let alone in a timely fashion . You may have to go back to the selling dealer , and leave the RV for extended periods of time.
How is the manufacturers overall rating ?

OK, you asked so here is my 2 cents worth. Although we bought a Montana again (third one from same dealer) our dealer also sells GDs and is EXCELLENT! No games with them and when you buy it is ready to go with no problems. I bought a 2008, 2012, and 2018 Montana and none have had to go back for anything and I feel a large part of that is dealer prep properly done. These people will treat you every way but wrong.Check them and current inventory out.
northgaterv.com.
Main lot is in Ringgold, GA and have another near Knoxville, TN. I have no financial interest in them but am a very satisfied customer.

Hi Bob! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
I understand your reluctance, but keep in mind that if you buy from a distant dealer you will have a nightmare in getting warranty work done locally! The local dealer will put you at the end of the list, and keep moving you back to the end!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Grand Design has always said they will work with any repair facility that will work with them and they are very good about that. We drove more than 600 miles round trip to buy ours and I never worried about getting warranty work done (although I have done most repairs myself). So go where you feel comfortable buying and have your warranty work done by a local rv repair shop or mobile rv repair.
I can recommend Trailer Hitch RV in Nippomo, Calif. for a no hassle great deal.

After having experienced our local dealer's so called service department, I would be elated to be put last on the list for service.

There is no "real" local dealer for me unless you're talking about 100 miles away. There is a Camping World closer than that but they don't have the brands I'm interested in. So, I'm going to find an independent RV Service shop. I know there is a good one 200 miles away. Do you know of any Manufactures that require you to take it to one of their "authorized dealers" for service? And isn't this only an issue or concern during the warranty period, which is how long?

I've had good luck with my local dealer. It is Coachlight RV in Carthage, MO. I dealt with Dave Roe and I felt he was a good person to deal with. This one of a few dealerships that my wife wasn't just ready to walk out of.
I know of another person that I have conversed with bought their rig there and from Dave and liked him also.
I had them do some warranty work and it was done right the first time. On our walk through there was no rush and they installed my observation camera on the rear which I had not bought from them. Of course it was just getting a ladder and putting it into the mount. Then the service manager and the fellow that did the walk through helped me get hooked and install the wedge to make my Sidewinder pin box work properly.

It’s a long drive for you but I’ll cast a second vote for north gate. I’ve only bought 1 from them but great to work with.

So we have purchased two GD s from Crestview in Buda, Tx. A reflection last year , traded for a special order on a Solitude three weeks ago. The sales and delivery team have been very good and aggressive pricing. They were over $16k under a chain dealership on the second one. We bought both from Royce. Service dept is about a 5but you won't be using them anyway.
