Grand Design or Artic fox...

Been looking for a few years now and we keep going back to Grand design or Arctic fox trailers. the GD seem to have a few new shorter units which really interest us. 321X and 320X both have thing we like, tv across from sitting areas. and With Artic Fox the 32-5m seems to also have things we like.

So the AF seems to be really heavy duty built but is it overbuilt?
We also wonder if it has enough NEW features as well as storage inside.

Grand Design is lighter chassis for sure, the GVWR and axle rating much lower then AF. seems to have some nice features and the pantry is a nice touch inside.

Truck wise we can haul anyone we are looking at.. so it comes down to comfort, quality and overall happy RVers... Have to keep Mom happy you know.

Looking for ideas and opinions.

you can research www.granddesignowners.com to get a feel for the Grand Design product line, we have the Solitude 369RL had a few issues with it the 1st year but it's been solid since

The Arctic Fox fifth wheel is a fine unit, however it's really a West Coast brand. And their dealer base is very, very small.

Northwoods/Arctic Fox only have 4 dealers within 1000 miles of me, and the closest is almost 800 miles away.

That removes me as a potential customer.

I live in Seattle so the Factory, and most of the dealers are really close to me. So if it had to go back to the factory it would be there in less than a day LOL. I get you point though its a west coast trailer company. Been looking for used units and they are far and few... so they don't sell any or people keep them and when for sale go quick.. which is a good thing.

Would be nice to take all the things I like of each trailer and put it into one unit LOL

If you live in Seattle try to avoid Paul Evert's RV that's where I bought mine and I was also talking with Blue Dog RV in Kennewick, I went with the buy local approach even though I could have saved 1% on my loan and got my 369RL $2000 cheaper, I have had nothing but problems with Paul Evert's RV anytime I had to have work done

I looked at both and would have bought a Arctic Fox 5er if a dealer was near about 300 miles away.

We ended up with a Cedar Creek 34 RL. In my humble opinion a much better unit than a Grand Design 5er. The Cedar Creek has 7,000 Lbs axles and the 6 point leveling system along with higher end amenities on the inside. Another great feature is the basement storage which provides 100 cubic feet more then other 5ers due to the frame design.
