Grand Design Reflection 311BHS
I have been looking at new 5thers for over a year now an am ready to pull the trigger on a new Reflection 311 next month. I wanted to ask the question if anyone here had any reason I should rethink my decision and if so why and what brand should I be looking at.

I've got the 2015 Grand Design Reflection 323BHS, which is the same basic unit you're looking at less the rear 1/2 bath.
These are great units, and as nice of a fifth wheel as we need. Despite having 4 slides, they're still light enough to be towed by a 3/4 ton diesel pickup. I especially love the outside kitchen which we use all the time.
I have had no warranty claims of any kind, and Grand Design is in a class of their own in customer service (at this time.)
I would suggest you go ahead and get the second (front) a/c unit if you're going to be camping in The South or any warm climate. We went with the optional seating option, and are very happy with that.

Some 5ths that are 2' - 3' shorter and the same weight use 12" or larger I Beam over the axles then step down to a 10" below the pass through. If GD uses 10" over the axles they may step down to smaller 8" below the pass though.
Base on a average dry weight of 11,000lbs there is a THEORETICAL carrying capacity of 2,180lbs. Subtract water @ 500lbs and propane leaves approx. 1,500,00lbs for food and gear, not much. A 1000lbs of which is actually being carried by the tow vehicle not the trailer.
If the dry weight of the trailer is more (never seen one below) than the average number stated in the brochure the carrying capacity is reduced even more.

I also researched for over a year and finally decided on a 2017 GD Reflection 303 RLS. Love it and have had no issues. Bought it in Sept. If I would have know I was also going to buy a bigger truck I would have moved up 1 design. Not GD's fault, but didn't imagine I would need a truck. Can't wait for warmer weather.

Like Bamaman, we bought a 2016 323BHS. We only had a couple minor warranty issues that were quickly taken care of. The only thing I want to do to it is replace the dinette with free standing chairs for the seating flexibility. I have been thoroughly impressed thus far.

We've had our Solitude 369RL for almost four years. I don't think you could go wrong with any Grand Design unit..

I too am looking at the GD but basically for the R value in comparison to the other brands. I'm looking at the Solitude 379FL
Cheers,

We had a 2017 384GK-R built back in December. We absolutely love it. Very well built, and quality is there. We didn't know it at the time when we bought it, but we will be full timing in it for at least 7 months, starting in March. Gladd we got the 40 1/2' now...lol

Ok so now, I am looking for something a little lighter. Possibly the 377MBS as it would seem as though my truck being a crew cab 3:73 impacts the overall. So I'm going to run my truck over the scales and see what the axles actually weigh in at. I would think my stated payload of 2860 lbs is a good number for a hitch weight but need to be sure. Might involve some overload springs and a re-certification too, not sure yet.
