Grand Design Solitude....windows question

We are honing in on a 2019 Grand Designs Solitude 384GK. It is a great floorplan, the deal is great but I have one concern. It does not have dual pane windows. GD talks about how well they are insulated so I wonder why they don't have dual pane windows. I see in their brochure they are optional. The dealer had 3 Solitudes on the lot and none of them had dual pane windows.

So, we will be using the rig at Myrtle Beach, SC in shoulder seasons....spring, fall, winter. We always try to manage moisture well.....vents open, fans on when cooling, showering. However, would be interested in hearing from any Grand Design owners who don't have dual pane windows.

We have a 2018 solitude we ordered the dual pane window. Truthfully I’m not sure if I would do it again. I think the furnace runs as much with the dual pane. Might dampen some noise and help a bit with sun block but no big difference on R value for retaining heat. For the price $2000 dollars buys lots of propane. These are large campers and the windows have gotten so large and very eye appealing, but they cool off fast.

Do your windows sweat a lot in cold weather?
Thanks

Dual glazed windows don't really have much R value, and are prone to seal failure.

No sweat on windows that we really noticed, I’m not a glass specialist but most I can tell these are just 2 identical pieces of glass together. Definitely no air space for R value. My research is R value of 1 on single and R value of 2 on dual. But there is a bit of benefit in hot weather and noise. Haven’t had it long enough to know if there will be problems in the future. Most people that have them don’t have problems from my inquiries.

I don't have dual pane windows. No regrets here. I am in NC and will camp up till Thanksgiving. I run a space heater and the fireplace and don't even use propane.

Regarding summer. If I am in a site with no shade, the AC (I have 2 units) does run pretty much non-stop; even with window shades down. Gets to temp at night, but set at 74; it cant keep it there in full sun .

Thumbs up

Yes a no doubt you are hotter than us from Canada. We have a 379 as well, generally it has been good to us! We will take it Phoenix this winter but not for couple months yet. Cheers!

They are a bit quieter and no condensation.

I have a Grand Design with the standard windows.

The dual pane windows might be best if you were camping in North Dakota in Winter. Or they might do better in the Arizona desert in Summer. But realistically, you won't catch me in those places in those seasons.

But they're expensive, and they're heavy. Our windows perform just fine.

You can hear the difference and they do not sweat like single pane do. Outdoor RV quit offering them as an option and now they come as standard equipment. Cheaper than trying to keep it straight if they were supposed to be single or double.

Have the dual panes now. They provide more noise reduction than single pane and don't get condensation on them when inside is nice and cool on hot southern days and in cold weather.

Had them on previous class A. The front windshield would get condensation on the inside but the dual panes never did.
