Heads up on TV choice
We purchased a 2014 Dodge 3500 Laramie to haul our Redwood 36rl, only to find it is too high to accommodate the 5th wheel. We had done extensive research to locate the best TV for us, never reading anything that mentioned checking your RV cap height vs. TV height. As it turns out, we have less than an inch clearance. Good news is we have found a suitable replacement!

There are several methods to modify the springs and shackles on the trailer suspension to help with this... most of these are very stable... its just a thought... BTW I tow with a 3500 Dodge Ram and understand your issues..

Newer trucks are so darned tall even a 2x4. I can barely see over the truck bed on our 2015 Ram 2 x 4 and spouse has to use a step stool to pin/unpin the hitch. We did have to adjust our hitch and pin box so the RV would ride level.

So we are in the process of looking for a 5th wheel now. Doing research. On all the Manufactures web sights we have looked at we see no mention on how high pin is. We own a 2015 Chevy 3500 SRW 4WD PU. How do you know if it is to high for a 5th wheel? We are looking at the Heartland Big Country 3650RL and the KZ Durango Gold G370 RL. We see on most 5th wheel hitches you have about a 2" to 4" Adjustment. Looking at the B & W companion slider hitch.
Just measured height of Tail gate in the down position at 37" and the Tail gate in the up position at 56".

My guess is that you will have to make some sort of adjustment to the RV and hitch. Depending on what size hitch you get, it will be adjustable by "x" number of inches and usually the pin can be adjusted both up or down. We have Moryde IS suspension so that makes our RV a little taller but if it was not tall enough Moryde would have added something to the suspension to make the truck and RV ride level. As others have stated you can make adjustments to more traditional suspensions too. I would think that the height size is similar for the big three truck manufacturers. We have a B&W 25K hitch and we did have to adjust it to level our the ride on our Ram 3500 dually 2x4. We have our pin box also extended down as far as it will go.

We couldn't level our Teton on the 3500 chevy dually. best I got was 5 and slightly nose high camper. It contacted the tail gate also. So I removed bed and installed a hauler bed. Finally sold it and got HDT and best move I ever made for towing.

I would imagine the Chevy dually was over loaded , to say the least..

No, not by specs. It rode like a sled though. I was close to the 9700# rating.

I have a 2015 RAM 3500 Laramie 4x4 dually long bed with a Curt Q20 hitch which has been used for two 5th wheels, 2015 Keystone Fuzion 404 and 2016 Crossroads Carriage 38SB, both have at least 7" clearance.

Wouldn't an RV dealer that sold & installed hitches know what will work? It seems that hitch manufacturers would take into consideration the new body builds.

No issues with my 2014 Ram 3500 DRW 4x4 and the Chaparral 360IBL. Sits nicely with 7" clearance and the 5er is maybe 1" high on front.

I have a 2014 ram 3500 SRW and a 2015 FR wildcat 295RSX, I have right at 6 inches of clearance and im running about an inch nose high. I'm thinking about putting a 3 inch lift kit on the 5th wheel and then re-adjust my hitch.

If you're referring to RAWR(9700#), ..then you were over vehicle's recommended GVWR...I would say that's overloaded...but I'm referred to as the "weight police" on some forums for a reason..I'm OCD for staying under manufacturers weight recommendations..guess it's the engineer in me, (spec man).. The Teton is very heavy.. I wouldn't have tried it with a 1 ton dually.

I have s SB Ram 2500 4x4, 2016 with 18" wheels. I clear the bed OK with my Carriage but have damaged the tailgate when the slider is engaged. I may need to raise the hitch a little and invest in an aftermarket tailgate.
