Heated Entry Steps
Hello,
We are full-timers living near Seattle, WA.
I wondering if anyone has found a practical way to heat the metal entry steps to their coach. We do have that wrap around rug stuff on there now but it gets icy in winter and we normally have been under cover it was ok.
Now I want to get the steps heated so they are slippery when we exit the coach in the winter.

I thought that the surefire accessories for ice removal and heating the RV steps in the winter were:
On the west coast Arizona.
On the east coast Florida.
Just being a wise guy.
I did try winter camping couple of times in cold, ice and snow. Came to a conclusion that RV makes a lousy domicile in those conditions.

I had thought about using the heat wire that is sold for pipes. Tape it to the bottom of the steps with the temp. sensor at the lowest step. But then I started using the philosophy of hjsdds - move to warmer climate.

My thoughts are move to a climate that ice does not exist.

X2; we're "suffering" from the cold snap moving across the country at the moment, but our low tonight will still be in the mid-40's, a bit too warm to have to worry about ice.

I might be way off here, but there are these heated pet mats they come in several sizes and should fit under your step covers and since they are 110V they won't strain your batteries. Just keep the plugs dry - or else

go on ebay and look up small 12v dc heating pads low cost set on timer or temp
pull only 3 amp each giving the size you want

Can you just flip the switch for the steps? door closed steps in, door opens steps go out.....un-frozen. When it rains I do this if I don't have the step awning open as I hate to walk on wet carpeted steps(bare feet) as our shoes usually stays outside in the summer.
