My wife and I travel in a Redwood 36FL. It's a residential unit made by Thor Industries so you can use it for full time RVing without voiding the warranty.
It has automatic leveling at the push of a button which is great.
We tow it with a 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 dually. I'm sure we could have gotten by with a single rear wheel truck but decided on the dually for the mountains.

We looked at some Open Range and Montana 5ers a couple years ago and nearly bought one of those.

Don't know where you live, but PPL in houston has some nice class A gassers for around that price.

Hey gents, while its true the Ford 6.0 factory built is a bomb, if you take a little time, a little money, it's not at all difficult to make the 6.0 a reliable 500hp power plant. If I were buying and could avoid it, I would, but if, like me, you got a great deal on a pretty truck, it can be converted into a beast..... Thanks, I enjoy reading the forums.

There are plenty of diesel pushers out there for that money. Our budget is $50,000 for the coach, toad, and a reserve. I could do it right this minute if I had to. Remember that you don't have to buy everything new. In fact, as you look at the sites I listed above, you will see that some of the coaches are 20+ years old. That isn't an issue if you are looking at a coach that a) was a high quality one when new, and b) was well maintained over the years.

Remember, too, that cash is king. Not that it is all that practical, but I suspect that if you walked into a dealership with 50 $1000 bills, put them on the table, and said "I want to buy that coach over there, the one that says $100,000 on the windshield. Here's the full payment for it. Where are the keys?" They would have a sales contract done before you had finished the first cup of coffee.

NO, I don't recommend walking around with $50,000 cash in your pocket, since that might attract the wrong kind of attention, but you get the idea. Cash is king, even though the financing is where the dealer makes his money.
Tried to buy my wife a used car with cash, they don't take cash anymore... can you believe that?

Wow, looks like they just dropped their tools and locked the doors. Unfortunately I will be in the air that day, so won't have a chance to bid on anything. There are a few odds and ends I spotted looking through the inventory.

Hi Jeff;
I was noticing the kitchen islands, (would save me building one) and wondering about the window supply, if they went cheap enough I'd consider laying in some spares.

But, I'll get by with out...

Man, there's some nice stuff in that auction.
Just makes me little sad to see a company go out like that.

You are right about fixing it and getting a good deal.

I have a 2007 F-350 diesel/dually with the 6.0 motor. You can eliminate the EGR (if you are not in a testing state), drain the crappy ford coolant and replace it with Cat coolant and add a coolant filter. This will get you a reliable truck for around $600 worth of work and parts.

Every 1 ton diesel truck has it's own problems and all of them need work to be reliable. It's a shame but that's the way it is. The 6.0 need the least amount of work and has good power and millage to boot. I get 16 - 18 mpg in town and 10 - 12 mpg pulling my 38', 14,000 lb tri axle 5th wheel. My brothers Dodge with the killer cummins has had 3 transmissions in it in 3 years. A lot more $ than my $600 fix.

I sincerely doubt that he has the 6.7L Cummins with the 6-speed 68RFE transmission. It's turned out to be pretty darned bulletproof. Our truck has never been back to the dealer for anything other than routine service since we took delivery in September 2010.

I don't know what engine size he has but it's a 2005 diesel/dually.
