Well KenInCa -- that is NOT news we wanted to hear....sigh.... So, for an update, we're heading back home to Albuquerque. The slide has been IN our entire trip. We've had many calls with Lippert while out on the road and they were willing to "troubleshoot" it, but feared if the slide didn't come back in, we'd be well...out of luck until a tech could come out and fix it. Lippert has confirmed they'll take care of the issue, we just need to get it in for service. I'm hoping LaMesa RV with the guarantee of Lippert will fix the slide issue. So will keep you all posted -- this RV trip (to say the least) has been a disappointment. I'm trying to keep my hopes up and that the RV life will be "fun" eventually. Thanks for all your help.

I hear your pain and hope LaMesa will be able to resolve your slide issue. The slide-out problems my wife and I encountered is just the tip of the proverbial problem ice burg on our Bay Hill 5th wheel. Our fresh water tank fell out on Highway 85 near San Jose (the metal frame gave out with the tank less than 1/4 full), the auto-leveling system decided to stop working on our first trip in the Mojave Desert, the cable TV system was miswired at the factory and had to be taken in twice before a technician could figure out the issue, and...and...water back-up issues because of poorly designed plumbing. On this RV, quality control at the manufacturing level was sadly lacking. The icing on the cake was the egregious treatment by Best RV in Turlock when they refused to honor the one year service warranty. At the moment, my trailer sits in a shop in Fresno as the techs try to get a response from EverGreen so the second slide out can be repaired. Let's see...two months have now passed and very little has been accomplished. We last used our trailer in July and here we are in November.

Corbanderin...

Did you find out what the final cause of the slide-out problem in your Bay Hill?

I finally got my trailer back last week and new motors were installed on the kitchen/enterainment slide-out. It took over 3 months but the problem is supposedly resolved.

KenInCA -- funny you should ask. The RV has been in the shop since Nov. 14 getting some other warranty work done, but also the slide issue. We just heard from LaMesa today saying they were waiting for parts (sounds like a new motor to fix the bad motor) for the slide, and should be fixed sometime before Christmas. We haven't heard the exact cause, but LaMesa said it was a bad slide motor. We're happy that it's being fixed in non-travelling season, as this could've been mid-July and we would've been stuck.

CorbandErin...On my bedroom slide the motor(s) were still good. The wiring harness was being crimped, apparently a common issue with Lippert slide components.

The kitchen/entertainment slide-out had two completely rusted motors. In addition, the vertical connecting rod to the motors was rusted. The service technicians just shook their collective heads because there was no evidence of water intrusion that would cause that kind of damage on a trailer that's (supposedly) less than a year old.

Happiest of Holidays and hopefully your RV will be returned speedily and to your satisfaction. My wife and I will be taking ours out to the California coast to see that everything is working satisfactorily before leaving for Arizona in February and spring training baseball.
