Hitch installation?

Now that I have my TV who can install my 5th wheel hitch for me and do I have to purchase the hitch from the installer? Any suggestions? I do not want to try this myself. Thanks.

I can
Some installers want you to buy the hitch from them, but some will let you just bring the hitch to them with the rails.

Since you didn't provide any details like where you are located, what TV do you have, what hitch are you wanting, etc it's difficult to answer your question. I would recommend having whoever installs your hitch also provide it. That way they have responsibility for the whole installation and can't say stuff like, "well, you gave me a crummy hitch product to install, that's why it doesn't work"! I had mine installed by a guy who came to my house and installed it, tested all my brake and light circuits and answered any questions I had. It took him about 1 1/2 hours to install my B&W GN hitch and cost about $430 USD. I found my B&W Companion on craigslist for $400, hardly used.

So, what trailer are you pulling? Do you want rails, flush bed, have brake controller, bed wiring?

Have you bought the 5er yet? Have the dealer of the 5er provide the hitch and installation as part of the incentive to buy the trailer. I did this with my first 5er and we ended up splitting the cost of the hitch and installation in the truck.

I will be pulling 5er up to but not exceeding 14,500 or so...I have integrated TBC in the truck that is factory...Have not decided on the rails but most likely will prefer underneath the bed rails but that is not a show stopper. I agree that the dealer will install if I get a new reg but there are a lot of great used ones out there as well. I just need to know where to turn when I am ready to install the hitch.
THanks

Oh and I forgot. I do NOT have the wiring provisions in the bed of the truck although I think that is something I need..will the installer be able to complete that task as well?

So you're just wanting recommendations for installers in the area?

Any good installer should be able to wire it. I have plug and play harnesses that can do that. I have no idea what the installers in your area can/can't do.

I've yet to find an RV dealer who is competent on all major hitch manufactures and competitive on price.

I wanted a Pullrite SuperGlide 4100. Dealer quoted me $3400 for hitch, rails etc. which included $1200 to install and wanted to use a welded on universal capture plate. I then went to a local hitch specialist. Total price out the door including hitch, rails, labor, correct bolt on capture plate and tax was $2400. Labor cost was $300 which also included adding a connector into the truck bed T'd off the bumper connector. They knew what they were doing and did a great job.

So for me, finding a place that specializes in hitches and installation is key for me. The shop I went to does little else other than hitch work.
