Hot Water Tank

Hello Everyone,

Previously I owned a 2009 Jayco 31 BHDS which had the propane and electric switches in the trailer. Now I own a 2011 Pinnacle 31 REQS which has the same but also has an on/off switch at the hot water tank. My questions are:

Why the extra switch at the hot water tank, and what is its purpose ?

If the switch is turned on at the tank, and both propane and electric switch are turned off in the RV, does the hot water tank draw power ?

The reason I ask these questions is that I have 2 - 2000 watt generators which, depending on the amount of power I may require, I can run them in parallel. I have run just one generator which provides enough power to run the furnace, charge the 2 batteries, radio, etc.. What I have found since dewinterizing is that my one generator now overloads as soon as it is plugged in. I am at home now away from my seasonal site, racking my brain as to why this is happening. Could it be because of this outside switch now being turned on ? I can think of no other explanation as EVERYTHING else is turned off when plugging in the generator. I hope to check this out next week.

It is pretty much there as a safety. I shut it off when I service a heater or when I winterize a unit. With it off the customer is less likely to turn the heater on without water in it.

Well I went to my site today to try only 1 generator with the hot water switch turned on and off. The generator ran fine with the hot water heater on, furnace on, water pump on, radio, and opening slides. So why the other day did the generator go on overload with nothing turned on. Is there a reset button on a timer somewhere in the fuse box. I have ruled out a generator problem as both worked fine today.
