How to? RV 3 panel sliding shower glass door

One of my panes of glass in my 3 panel sliding shower door shattered. The manufacturer sent me a new one.

My imagination says you if you remove the top rail, the 3 glass doors slide out of either end as a set. And then the new ones are replaced into the top rail the same way, the rail is hung again making sure each of the 3 panels lines up and sets into the bottom track.. Screw it back to the side rails and caulk.

Does that sound about right?

I just took a look at mine. The inner door rides on the frame. The middle and outer doors connect to the inner door. Mine has spring clips that release the outer door from the middle door. Etc. My guess is once the doors are separated they will lift out with the frame in place. Click image for larger version

I wish.

The wheels are locked by the top of the rail and they get stopped before you can lift them all the way off the track.

That little spring clip is impossible to remove without having access to the tip of it. I tried really hard to get that spring clip off thinking the same thing.

shower

Hi my shower middle panel dropped in the track a screw fell out. It is easy to fix but you need two people .Take the screws out of top (cap)cover of then lift whole unit to bedroom lean against bed and slide top track off slowly then you have good access to change panel. Returning to shower is the hard part you have to line bottom up and lower into place again two people. (good luck)

I think I would just chit can the glass doors and get a nice shower curtain. Saves on wiping down the doors every time you take a shower. Plus you don't have to worry about them ever again when traveling. You can replace the shower curtain with a different one when needed for cheap.

I had that same thought!! And if it broke once, it could happen again..

And then I saw this..

That looks like a good alternative. Grand Design has a retractable shower door in their Imagine line. I've heard read a couple negatives in that the self cleaning part doesn't clean all that well. Not sure what brand GD is using.

Hmmm, nautilus or disposable shower curtain as alternatives . No more wiping down shower door...filed in the "If shower glass breaks, do this" folder.
End of discussion for me.

you could also take the door glass panel and the RV to your dealer/Rv shop and pay them to install it. it would only cost the labor since you have the parts

Call Todd Morton at ORV. 541-962-1866 He can tell you how to install it or arrange for a local shop to do it under warranty. Good people to work with.

i definitely do not mind doing it myself, seems simple enough, but I did want to verify that this was the way these shower doors operate in assembly.

There is another company that makes a retractable shower door. Shub we had one in a MH. Worked fine here is a link to this one.

I'm curious as to why it broke. Our current unit has the corner shower with radiused doors. Most of new ones we are shopping have a larger shower with the tri-slide. Are the panels that much more fragile due to being flat?
