Am thinking of changing the mechanical stat on my Suburban Furnace/Dometic AC to a Hunter 42999B and was wondering if the stat can be turned off when not using the 5ver...

Yes, you can pull the AA battery out.

I don't do this - just put in a fresh one each spring

Or if you are handy with a soldering gun, just add a 50 cent toggle switch to turn the power off and on.

Thanks for everyones replies. Went and bought the stat and I think I will install it without a toggle switch as I don't intend to run the ac on low as this is inviting freezeup problems...........
