In CA which driver license is needed ?

For the last 18 yrs, I have had an endorsement on my class c license to tow a 10,000 to 15,000 gvw fifth wheel. Now DMV says I need a class B non commercial, but they (collectively) are not sure. The last license renewal form from CA dmv stated I was renewing a class c with 10 to15K gvw endorsement. When I finished the renewal process, I only have a class c with no endorsement. Anybody know the current reg for CA???

If your 5'er has a GVWR under 15,000lb - all you need is basic Class C.
California Driver Handbook

If your 5'er has a GVWR over 15,000lb - you need a non-commercial Class A.
http://dmv.ca.gov/pubs/dl648/dl648.pdf
See page 2 of the handbook.

Here's an easier chart to read - titled "Commercial License..." but lists non-commercial license types too.
California Commercial Driver License Handbook California Driver License Classes

And for those CA drivers with a motorhome over 40' - supposed to have a non-commercial Class B. (see the links above).

Hope this helps
Best luck

The ca.dmv.gov info supplied says I need a class c with an endorsement for towing a 5r between 10k and 15k. The test is no charge (recreational vehicle and non commercial class A trailer law test) I made an appointment and with this info, maybe get my endorsement back.
