We LOVE our 2009 CC Silverback, very few problems over the years. The CC division of FR offers outstanding customer support. We are members of the CC RV Owners club, so we know a lot of CC owners. Many are on their 3rd or 4th units....that should tell you something.

AS far as full timing, if you have the budget, there are better units for full timers...but be prepared to shell out much more....consider where you will be full timing....look for extra insulation, dual pane windows, and 2 a/c units. The 6 pt leveling system is nice, but not a must have.

I also agree with "testing" out a used unit for now and then in 3 or 4 years buying up....and make sure the truck can handle the weight.

Some day we'd like to own an Excel or DRV...but who knows....

Good Luck,
Mike

Thank you all. In searching for my truck went through much the same things...that is everyone had a different option on which truck and why. Guess it really boils down to gut instincts along with gathering wisdom from others.
We did go ahead with our purchase of the silverback. Now, it may not be top line shelf, but then I cannot afford that, neither is it bottom end. In the end we really liked how it looks and feels and feel it will serve our needs.
I've also come to realize, should we have made a mistake, it's not the first one I've made, and I'm sure won't be the last. But should we have some fun along the way, meet new friends and enjoy ourselves, then it's all worth it.
Will keep you all posted along our journey and hopefully someday we'll cross paths. We are excited and looking forward to when the day our rig arrives. Have a lot to do before then.
So with that in mind, I do have a question as I'm just starting my hunt. How much
should I be expecting to pay for insurance on the 5th wheeler?

Well congratulations on your choice. I too own a 5er that everyone says not to buy. I purchased a 318SAB; Cougar in 2010. I since have put on 24,000 trouble free miles on the camper the only issue was with the Chinese tire bomb. That is why I suggest a better tire for your trailer.

Now as far as insurance I am using State Farm and I have full coverage of the trailer this cost a little over $300 a year. They took care of my tire failure in NB at 8:00 in the morning on a Sunday; had me on the road in less than a 1 hour. DW did not want me changing the tire on the driver’s side along RT80 in the morning fog.

Well done.
Now that you now have what you both like. You can make it you own. No one else can.
Enjoy.
