Info on 5th wheel

We are looking at a 2012 NuWa Hitchhiker 38 CKQG and would like to know if we should consider buying this since NuWa is no longer in business? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks CC & PB

By reputation NuWa was one of the best made FWs of its day. If it had the right floorplan and amenities, and I had a large enough TV, I'd have bought one. Even if NuWa were still in business a 2012 is way out of warranty. Everything can still be repaired.

They are great rigs! Parts are still available. They are very HEAVY, that model will require a dually.

X2 on what the other posters said. But I would DEFINITELY pay an rv tech for an inspection. NuWa makes good rigs but you don't know if the previous owner maintained it well. It's well worth the $$.

While NUWA may no longer manufacture RV's, they are still in business. They have just changed their business model. Their repair facility is still up and running in Chanute, KS (site of their factory), and they sell a LOT of RV's at their facility (www.kansasrvcenter.com). Many of those RV's are used NUWA's that they have gone over and repaired and restored to like new condition. They also sell new RV's from many manufacturers, including class A's.

I'm actually considering getting a Hitchhiker to replace my ancient Jayco.

Treat it like you would any other used RV--look it over good, figure out if the price is reasonable and the floorplan is what suits you and wife. A HH is usually a great unit if it has had a good maintenance history--2 friends have them and love them.
And the KS RV Center is really a good place to have repairs done if you are anywhere near them.

That model would most likely be a Champagne model - and if you're buying it from the former factory (Kansas RV Center) I wouldn't hesitate. We bought our 31.5 from them in 2013 and love it! Ours is an LS model, the Champagne models are very high-end.
