We will be picking up our new fifth wheel at the end of the month so I'll be shopping for insurance quotes this week. I'd appreciate some input as to what insurance you have on yours and why.
Thanks in advance for your input!

I have mine covered by State Farm because that's who I have my other vehicles with. It's a collision and comprehensive policy.
I always figured it'd be best to have the trailer covered by the same company that covers the tow vehicle, that way if I ever have a wreck I'll only have one company to deal with.

We had been with State Farm for 30 years until their rates for Harris County (Houston) became completely unrealistic - and we haven't had a claim since 1996 (~$750). We moved our vehicle insurance (including RV) to Good Sam's VIP insurance (GMAC) and saved a significant amount on our premiums. In addition, this insurance provides a 5 year full replacement feature for the RV.
The only problem we've encountered is that they wouldn't cover my BMW K1200GT motorcycle - I had to insure it on a separate policy with Progressive.

We use State Farm, all our insurance is with them for last 25 years. Three hail claims during those years were handled well. There is a discount if you have your house and vehicles with them but I dont know the exact figures. I'm figure their rates are close enough to the other companies that I wont give up the convienance of having it all with them as long as they continue to give us no hassle service when we have claims.

For close to 35 years we had been loyal State Farm customers, but with the move to Oklahoma, they priced themselves right out of the market. Rusty is right about the outrageous rates in SE Texas.
We decided to shop around after 6 months of high rates here and found we could get the same coverage for 60% of State Farm rates. And we only had a cople of small claims in the 35 years with them.
So you do need to shop around. AARP offers some good vehicle rates until your truck hits 10K GVWR and they won't cover them at all.

We use Motorists Mutual through an Independant agent. Had Nationwide for about 6.5 years. They got way too high for no claims. Homeowners went through the roof.
We used USAA for nearly 26 years, but when we built a new home, they would not cover us. They said they would when we started the new house.
Good luck.

I have had all my insurance with Nationwide for more years than I can remember. I have not found a better deal to make me want to change. I too like the convienience of having all my insurance with one company. Customer service has been outstanding as well.

Ivory Snatcher, I too am with USAA and am very satisfied. I am not sure exactly what you meant in your post, USAA wouldn't cover your new home while it was under construction but would when you moved in?? Just curious what you meant. John

We had Progressive, till they hiked our rates $1000 a year for 3 years over a ticket my wife got two years ago. I gave them a choice to put the rates back and get $$$ from us, or leave them and get 0. They chose to get 0. Went with Geico. So far so good.

Had American National for 3-Yrs until 6/17/05 I had time to shop rates. AAA raised my coverage and lowered my rates.I did lose my content coverage. Allstate Or American National could not even come close. For the yrs I was with American I was tossed between 3 or 4 agents never a claim and they seemed to care less if I stayed or not.Loyalty at its best. AAA has now called me twice to see if all is well and to tell me of services they offer for free. Shop, it keeps your current company in the rodeo and we pay dearly to watch.

Add me to the USAA fan club. I have been with them since '69 and would'nt think of changing. The insurance is for military folks, but many do not know that the USAA bank is available to everyone. It has been rated the best bank in the USA by Money magizine. USAA pioneered internet banking service so if you are mobile they will follow you everywhere. I am in the process of buying a new fiver and USAA will have the financing and insurance at the best rates I could find. http://www.usaa.com Their service over the years has simply been the best.
