Just arrived at MOrryde to have Independent Suspension (IS) & Disc Brake Upgrade. Work begins at 6AM tomorrow 06/20/18. Very excited to get this upgrade completed on my 2018.5 Montana 3921FB.

We had ours done last November. Already had disc brakes but changed to Kodiak hubs and discs. We have been very pleased with the results so far.

Went to disc brakes last year. Added the heavier shackles to the Moride suspension at the same time. Love the new brakes.

The IS is about the smoothest suspension you can get. Discs are always an improvement. Yrs ago it was kind of strange spending the night inside the fiver on jacks in their shop

What’s it going to run you for the upgrade?

We upgraded our 2017 North Point 377 RLBH to disc brakes by Kodiak and the Titan II electric over hydraulic actuator, in the first week after delivery. They are incredible stopping our 16.5k 5ver. We then upgraded to theMorRyde HD wet bolt shackles a year later.

However, the factory drum brakes would not engage at all on delivery, even with the TV brake controller gain dialed up to 10! So we had already purchased all the disc brake kit parts from etrailer.com and had it with us on delivery day. I’d say not to do that if I had it to do all over again. Apparently I was short some parts and wrong fittings...the labor hrs increased 50% over agreed price. If all parts are present and correct, it’s a 10 hr job for two mechanics, or about $900 labor. I ended up spending $3200 total for parts n labor on the new brakes. Still worth it at that price. Shackle kit was $85 and Jayco service installed for no charge, along with a bunch of warranty work done at the time.

We love our disc brakes! You will too! We have 23000 miles and they look about half worn.

Wow, that’s quite a bill! Can you post a picture of the MorRyde IS?

There is no reason why good electric brakes won't function, however I agree that power disc brakes are much better..

I used to own a commercial trailer that was rated at 22K lbs... it came with power disc brakes.. the problem was always getting the brake system set up with the correct gain when the weight of the load was always changing..

We found that we had problems getting more than 18 months on a set of pads, and we never found a good value on the pads as they were custom made for the brake manufacturer...

For the gent above, who is having trouble with his current drum brakes.... you need to find someone who understands the system to help you diagnosis the system and fix it.. it could be something as simple as an adjustment..

Almost all electric brakes are self-adjusting but that self adjuster just never works... I like to crawl under the trailer and while I spin the wheels us a common brake spoon and adjust up each wheel until you can hear the brake shoes gently touch the drum...

Than while the wheel is spinning have someone in the cab apply the lever on the brake controller... you should be able to stop each wheel instantly when you spin it... if not, you need to diagnosis that wheel.

When towing at 10 mph you should be able to pull the brake control lever in the cab and lock all the wheels... if not, diagnosis why not...

These are simple systems but I agree, most guys have no real clue how they work or how to correctly diagnosis a non working system..f

best of luck..

I'm not sure about the 8k axles but my 7K would have been $3200 for a complete install of the IS, using our existing hubs and brakes. That was with the winter pricing. We had the Dexter discs with 17.5 inch wheels but decided to convert to the more serviceable Kodiak hubs and discs which added another $1800 to the bill. They were able to use the Dexter hydraulics. Probably a little on the pricey side but we were there, it is done and I didn't have to mess with it.
