Is Prowler a good brand?

My local RV dealer wants me to trade my 2011 Gulfstream Travel Trailer plus cash for this P289 Prowler 5th wheel which is 31.4 feet long. The dealer wants $31,000 for this brand new 2014 5th wheel.

Thanks.

Prowler is owned by Heartland RVs and the Prowler line is a new model. Heartland is very good with their construction and has a very good factory support.

Prowler is a very old brand. My uncle had a Prowler trailer back in the late 1950's, and it was a quality-built unit. Now Heartland is building them to their entry-level standards. Look around for how many 31/32' 5ers are in that price range, then check quality of structure. The inside is only window dressing.

Ray is correct. We had a Prowler in the late 1980's and it was a decent quality trailer. Since Heartland (now Thor owned) has revived the Prowler name, it is an entry level RV.

You need to look beyond the surface glitz and bling to see how well it is built.

Sure the dealer wants you to trade up...more money in his pocket. Be sure and look around at other trailers and make sure you are getting a good deal.

My Gulfstream Trailer I think is built better then this Prowler 5th wheel. The only thing my Gulfstream doesn't have is sliders. Maybe this is why this local camping world hasn't sold this 2013 Heartland PROWLER SPORT 21PBRS Fifth Wheel? Not built to good? Thanks all of you for the help.

Hi, you may want read the post on bent axles that I started. I learned from this group so much about the axles under your RV regardless if its a 5ver are TT. Some one posted about never pick up your RV with your axle to change a tire ,although I've seen this done many times even at RV dealer's ,he new what he was talking about because I verified this at at local trailer manufacture ,he told me at least 80% of all axle damage he repaired was from RV being jacked up by axle. The answer I got back on this thread has really helped me . Wished I had known this before hand even though mine has never been lifted by the axle that I'm aware of.
