Jayco Eagle HT Bed Rail Issues

My TV is a 2002 Ford F250 Super Duty 4x4 V10. I have a Jayco Eagle HT 5th wheel on order. It has a GVWR of 9950 and a pin weight of 1260#. It will have a Mor/Ryde Pin Box. I recently installed a Pullrite Superglide hitch that has no height adjustment. The bed rail height of my truck is 19" plus a new Encore Cover which probably adds another inch. My concern is how much space will I have hitched to my new 5th wheel? If it is less that the minimum 6", what can I do to solve this issue? It comes with 15" tires. Should I request an up-grade to 16"?

The pin box will probably have 3 adjustment positions. Usually it will be set to the middle position. On my mor-ryde pin box looks like at least 1.5" maybe 2" difference between the settings. So adjusting the pin box could gain you additional clearance.

I personally don't think you will have a clearance problem but good to be thinking about it. I also think it would be an excellent choice to get a 16" wheel/tire upgrade if available--you will like it much better in a couple of years or so.

I was able to hook up to a trailer like the one I will be getting next month this morning and was pleasantly surprised to see a 9" space between the bed rail and the bottom of the 5th wheel. It was a little nose high and the tech said there is an adjustment on the suspension that will pick up the rear 2" to level the TV and trailer. What a relief!

I would get the upgrade to the 16 in tires & wheels, I think you will be glad you did.
