I have a jayco 40bhs and the window leak next to the bunk beds. The water is puddling on the emergency window sill. Anyone have the same problem? If so how did you fix it?

If the leak is between the siding and window frame, you'll need to remove the window, clean up the frame and siding, and reseat it with fresh butyl tape. These windows are removed by removing the inner trim ring and then removing them from the wall. After reinstallation, use a bead of self-leveling Dicor sealant on the top side (see your other window and door openings for reference) to keep the water out.

If the leak is between the rubber seal and the glass or frame, you might see what a glass shop would recommend for a temporary or permanent fix. If it were me, I might try some clear silicone sealant (generally not recommended for most RV applications) as an emergency fix simply because it will bond to damp surfaces.

For now I put a piece of eternabond on the top where the emergency window meets the frame. I just think these windows were designed wrong and defective. This Jayco emergency egress window has a top hinge plate (outside) that is riveted into the window frame. I am hoping this is where it is leaking and not the window frame. I will keep you posted.

If every one of them leaks, you might be right, but if that were the case, I can't believe that Jayco would continue to use them. I've owned three (3) Jaycos, two (2) of them 5th wheels and never had any leaks around the emergency exit windows. Were they the same design as yours - dunno, but unless Jayco has changed suppliers, I'd wager they're standard Hehr RV windows.

I don't have a Jayco but did have a similar problem. I had a small leak around the corner of a window. After spending weeks checking and rechecking the window, I finally climbed on top of the unit. There was a tiny gap in the sealant at the edge of the rubber roof directly over the window. The water traveled down the inside of the wall and the window opening was the first place for it to get out.

So before yanking the window, be certain that it is the culprit.
