Jensen DVD Player

Our 5th wheel has a Jensen DVD player which has caused us a lot of frustration. When playing a DVD, it will sometimes stick/freeze and using the fast forward or reverse features does not work. I've had to eject the DVD, reinserted and fast forward it past the point where it stopped. I then play the DVD. I initially thought it was the disk so I inserted it into the DVD player in my home and it played without a hitch. Has anyone had similar problems with the Jensen DVD player and were you able to fix this problem? I have been told Jensen's video equipment is at the bottom of the list and should think about replacing it. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I'm subscribing as our new 5er has a Jensen too. It has to be the least intuitive entertainment unit I've ever encountered () and will replace it with the least provocation.

Our first one turned itself on at odd times. Replaced on warranty but rarely use it as we got a small Sony Blu-ray player.

Possible issues:
Power (MSW inverter) can mess up tracking
Dirty Lense (Run cleaner CD)
Loose screws, fittings etc inside unit can result in poor tracking
Scratched DVD can result in signal lock loss (Loss of tracking)
And bad design though I would be surprised if that was an issue with a Jensen, they used to be a top brand.

Recommendation:
Run Cleaner CD
INSPECT DVD (Should not see any visible imperfections) vary the angle you look at it

IF that does not work and you are not using MSW (if you are try shore power) replace DVD player.

I mean they are what 25 bucks now days (or less)

The unit they are putting in new RV's is far from the top of their line, and their line isn't what it used to be.
You are dead on about the lack of intuitive design. My experience with it led me to remove the unit and replace it with a Kenwood CD/MP3/USB Stereo head and a inexpensive DVD player.
Just not worth the hassle, IMHO.

Did you find a Kenwood to fit the space? I would love to find a decent replacement as the Jensen is so non-intuitive I hate to use it.

I built a cover plate for the hole left by the Jensen out of some 3/8 hardwood and opened it up to handle the single DIN size of the Kenwood. Looks clean enough after I stained it.

I have the same issue with my Jensen. It's under warranty as a replacement unit from Camping World. Will be claiming a new one in next few weeks.

Same problem with turning itself on. Worse piece of junk I ever owned.
