Kountry Star slide-out roof materials question

We purchased a used Newmar Kountry Star 2002 35LKSA 5er 2 3 slides. I washed the roof and slide tops this past weekend and found an issue on the slide tops I am unsure how to deal with and hope this forum can help.
I have included several pictures and hope they help in addition to my description.
I am not sure how the slide tops are constructed. They feel firm and solid so am assuming some kind of wood or fiberglass one pc construction. It appears they have an EPDM? layer bonded on them. On the outboard edge is a 4" wide material I am assuming is to cover the outboard seam of roof EPDM? layer. My issue is with this 4" wide material. To me it appears it could be eternbond tape? The 4" wide material has, in several places, bubbled up; the bubbled up areas are soft and can be depressed. It doesn't feel as though water is underneath, just air.
My issue is how to repair; and with what materials.
I've considered the possibilities are to
1)attempt to remove the 4"wide strip and replace with eternabond.
2)cover the whole thing with Protech Liquid Roof
3) add another layer of eternabond tape over the existing seam material

Perhaps none of these is the best repair...I welcome suggestions.

You can call Newmar and ask them. I'm sure the service department can help. Check their website for a telephone number. They are friendly folks.

I have the same trailer, albeit 2005. Mine does NOT have a strip like that. the slide roof goes all the way to the edge. It would appear there was some kind of previous repair.

Very interesting K-Star!
Each of the 3 slides has the identical strip; just the one slide pictured has an issue. There is no signs internally of a past water issue anywhere. I think I will take 99's advice and call Newmar service for their opinion. If the strip has been added and it is eternabond tape...I don't think that stuff comes off. I will visit their site and see how to repair.
I see you pull with a Ford 6.7L; we have the 7.3 dually w 4:10 rear end....am thinking of switching out to 3:73 gears for non-pulling economy and wonder if the 3:73 offer enough guts to do so...do you have insight?

When I first got this trailer, I pulled it with a 2002 GMC 3500 diesel (Duramax/Allison). At that time, GM only put 3:73's in the 3500 trucks. I had trouble on some steeper hills in PA. The truck couldn't keep up the speed. There is a long pull on I-78 where it lost speed. I wouldn't want 3:73's in the more hilly areas of the U.S. I got tired of it and went to a Ford F-350 with 4:10's and it did much better. I didn't see much difference in MPG's between the 3:73 and 4:10. My current truck has 4:30's and most times I can't tell the trailer is back there.

Just as a side note, there is a great military site, Together we served. They have a one section for each branch. They have a real good buddy finder there also. Free for 30 days to check it out. I have been on the Army site for over 3 years. Give it a try if you have a little time.........
