What with two Shelties,I was wondering what the opinions might be of removing the carpet and installing one of the laminate floorings in the trailer. The trailer has two slides and it looks like I could maybe keep a strip of carpet where they slide in.Although the laminate stuff is claimed to be pretty tough. This stuff is free floating, wonder if that OK in RV.
Thanks for any ideas.

I will be installing a similar type product this summer, What I can tell you is that removing the old carpet can sometimes be a real pain as it is stapled down .... in abundance.... Depnding upon the type of slide that you have you may need to entertain some thoughts on how it will look when the slide is out, as you cannot readily apply basebord treatment in that area... I would recomend shooting to a handful of RV dealers an inspect how the Flooring in some of the new units appears. Good luck and I hope this helps a little...

Fuzz,

I installed laminate flooring in our coach and have been very happy with it. It is very easy to keep clean and makes the coach look larger and brighter.

Here's a link to some pictures of the install:

Lamar,
Thanks a bunch. That is exactly what I needed to know.It appears you left carpet under the sofa
and the piece in front that covers the slide edge. You probably explained it but I'm not sure.
Our unit has one large side in the rear.It contains the sofa/bed and the dinnete table.
Heckuva job you did.Looks great.

Fuzz,

I did leave the carpet in the slide. I removed all the carpet on the main floor. The laminate flooring goes right against the edge of the slideout. There is a 1/4" gap against the slide and around the walls. The slide carpet covers this on the dege of the slide and a quarter round trim is used around the rest of the walls, cabinets, etc.
