Landing gear pin size. Drill for larger pin?

Looking to buy some landing gear pull pins. The present size is 3/8" but a 7/16" pin is available. From what I see on the landing gear, it should be no problem to enlarge the LG pin holes to 7/16" and use the larger (stronger?) pins. It appears that the majority of LG size is 2 1/4". Has anyone done this? A short online search found no info on this.

First question would be why? Did one of your pins fail? I have never had one fail, so this make me curious.

Never had a reason to do this.

When our rig was totaled, the landing gear legs were bent, along with most everything else, but the pins and holes for them were unharmed.
