It's only a non-issue.... until you have a problem, which would be pretty unusual.

But here's the "one reply" on how a state (CA) determines max trailer length -

Usually *overall* length is more likely to be checked by LEOs in *any* state, and usually 60-65 feet (overall) is the magic number.
(But something "unusual" would cause an LEO to do that).

For more definitive info, go to the Escapees HDT forum (or MDT forum).
Folks over there tow with HDTs due to *LONG* and heavy trailers.
