I have a front jack (electric) manufactured by Atwood that will not fully retract manually. It will retract electrically but when I remove the pin and attempt to push the landing leg fully upward to pin it in the highest position it binds. Has anyone removed the landing leg and can it be done by extending the jack fully or does the complete jack have to be removed from the top? I don't have access to my 5th wheel to work on it except when I move it to a campground or someplace othe than where I have it stored. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are talking about the bottom portion of the jack (with the holes in it) you should be able to remove them if you raise your 5er high enough to allow them to drop out. This way you can see what the problem might be. I know mine drop out

Sounds like the lower part with the holes is slightly bent, and binds when pushed upward. One of mine is like that--rather than worry to fix it, I just ram it upwards all the way, and knock it downward with a hammer till the pin sets. When setting up, same hammer applies. One day, I will fix it correctly. Besides, I just like to make noise when setting up...

Lower tube (w/pin holes) can and does get sprung and will not retract fully without some help as memtioned . Lower tube can be purchased from Atwood seperately or if lucky can sometimes be straightened in a press. Other parts must be purchased as a complete unit minus motor at aprx $500. Been there and done that. To change out entire leg hook RV to TV and block up landing gear as much as possbile and disconnect RV and raise RV as high as needed to allow leg assy to clear RV. Suggest leaving TV under RV in case of drop. Chock all wheels and observe safety precautions

The hammer idea sounds best; followed by vice to press out.

Thanks RVhauler I ordered the lower tube and received it yesterday. I am getting the RV out of storage next week. When you talk about blocking up the landing gear are talking about raising the front wheels on blocks to get clearance to remove the lower tube. Thanks to everyones replies and help
