Lights slow to come on

Any experience with 12 volt lights slow in coming on? I have only noticed this with a bank of 4 lights in the living room. Single lights seem to come on instantly. But the bank of 4 in the living room (one switch) seems to vary from instant to about 10 seconds - a bit inconsistent. No big deal but just trying to understand?

They are the halogen lights. We have not noticed any delays with any of the other halogen lights in the trailer including some others with bands of multiple lights.

Really not sure why this is happening but I would check connections in the switch first, it may be just a loose wire. Check the power with a volt meter to see if there is 12v at the switch prior to operating the switch. If so, check the output of the switch when turned on to see if it is 12v there. It could be just a faulty switch. If in checking with your meter all seems to be correct I would tend to think it is the switch. Good luck and let us know if you find the problem.

Sounds like a bad connection. A single light does not put enough current load on it for it to show up. Whereas the four lights put a larger current draw on it and it shows up.

I actually had a similar problem with the bathroom vanity lights. the fixture has three of those large clear bulbs. One day I started to notice that when I turned them on, they come on dimmer than usual and after a few seconds brighten to normal. A week or so later one of the bulbs burnt out. I put a new bulb in and everything was normal again.

You may want to use a replacement bulb and replace the bulbs one at a time to see if that helps. Albeit my case did not involve halogen bulbs (old fashioned incandescent) but it solved my issue.
