When we carry our grandkids for camping there is room for them and all of their must have accessories when they go camping with us. When it is just the two of us the seats are folded flat and the DW can put whatever she needs in the truck. A happy DW is a happy family.
I'm running the same setup as Cummins12V98, only MegaCab short box. Using the B&W RVK3600 as well. To us, it was more important to have the cab storage. We can get more than enough turning with a fixed hitch, even with our monster Solitude.

My 3500 RAM with factory rear air ride has a good firm ride. I would not consider it "stiff". Just rode to dinner in friends 3500 SRW GMC short bed and I can honestly say my dually rides as good if not better.

A dually gives you more of a safety margin should something happen. A dually long box gives you more storage in the bed, smoother ride and you do not have to worry about moving hitch position before tight maneuvering.

I had a 2007 1 ton srw crew cab short box and this new 2015 1 ton drw crew cab long box is a much smoother ride when empty.

I drove a couple 2014 Ram Laramie 2500's, one was a crewcab shortbox and the other a megacab shortbox (longbox frame) and the megacab did feel to ride better, all other things being equal.

Mega will ride a bit better than the CCLB, due to just weighing more. It adds a few hundred pounds to the rear axle.

The storage inside makes the MegaCab.

You can get a Tradesman with the crew cab and long bed. Just as big as the mega.
