Jim, I don't have any experience with the rig you are talking about. I do however have experience with the Champagne Edition. That is what we had before we bought our Bounder DP. We never had a problem with that rig. Everyhing was built solid. Nu-Wa builds a great rig as I'm concerned. If I were ever to go back to a fiver Hitchhiker would be at the top of my list.

Jim,

I'm not familiar with the exact rig you've described but a few years ago I owned an earlier version of what NuWa is selling today. I had a HitchHiker II 30.5 RLUG which had a similar floor plan as the rig you're describing. We were very happy with it and wound up trading up to another HH II with triple slides, which we've since swapped in for our current rig. IMHO, NuWa products represent a great value, are dependable, reliable, and hold their resale values very well.

You might find a cheaper 28' rig, but for the money, I don't think you'll regret buying a HitchHiker II.

The HitchHiker II is made by Custom Campers, a subsidiary of NuWa and they have focused on smaller, lighter and more affordable 5th wheel trailers to compliment the larger full timer units produced at the NuWa factory. The initial introduction of the HitchHiker II L/S (Lite-Series) was in 2001 and has evolved in response to RVrs wanting a "quality choice" that was absent in the smaller and lighter products in the market place.

Unfortunately, the dealer network here in the southeastern part of the US is weak, last I heard the nearest dealer to NC is in Georgia and there are two in Florida. When I bought my rigs, there was a dealer in Newton, NC but they've since been bought out and the HitchHiker line was dropped.

The last one I bought, I was able to get it for 28% off of the MSRP for a factory ordered unit.

Hey Richard:

Thanks for the comments. Don't know if we can make the jump up in price vs. the Nash/Arctic Fox offerings, but that HH LS certainly looks good on paper. The Georgia dealer is not too far away for me, and may be in the mood for a heavily discounted order if I bite the bullet.

Hope to get up to Roan Mountain this fall, and want to be pulling less of a load!

Jim

My wife and I thought we had bought a HitchHiker II LS but the deal fell though at the last minute because the dealer was dishonest, or I should say his saleswomen. We had planned to retire and go full time so we where willing to spend the extra dollars for the HitchHiker but when our unit arrived it became a name calling match. We could not get a honest figure on what the unit cost and it just goes on and on ahd the saleswomen hung up on me and that was the last straw. We visited the factory and I was very much impressed with the RV but not the dealership network...you need to use extreme care and have the dealer put everything and I mean everything in writting. Leave nothing to be questionable. We ended up buying a Cardinal, built by Forest River...we have been in this unit since July 5th and except for a few minor flaws we are very happy with the unit...so once again I must say NUWA has a very poor dealer net work...good luck on your purchase

I noticed in your reply that you ended up witha cardinal. I would be interested in how you like it. I just buy on myself and am very happy and would like to know if other feel the same.
