We had quite a few issues with our heartland Eldridge which we bought new in 2013. Most were QC issues such as the shower drain not hooked into drain pipe, which leaked all over the basement storage area. I think our first warranty list contained about 32 items that needed repair. But while heartland did finally authorize all to be fixed we were without the use of our rV for over six weeks which was frustrating. My issue was they were simple things resulting from sloppy work. Having said that, I have heard recently from other Heartland owners that they have gotten much better!!

Hi, wish I could offer authoritative advise to the original poster. I just bought a 5er with having little knowledge about anything. :>( I just found this article and it cast concerns about the unit I purchased. The 5er is a 2007 HR Presidential 37skq I have not seen any mention to HR units in this article I thought they were well built and had the features I needed. I searched on line and found several across the country and was surprised to find one close to home. My need is full time with very little travel. I am single retired and this will be my living quarters all seasons in eastern PA.
I've found some small issues that must be dealt with that I can manage myself. The unit was sold as is which didn't concern me . The unit has a generator and when in the dealers lot I was able to operate ALL the electrical equipment and LP appliances. No water damage visible.
If the OP dose some of the things I mentioned he'll most likely do just fine.
One thing I would mention though is to buy USED. I was extremely surprised how quickly the value depreciates . My theory is to have the original owner take the deprecation hit.
