Made it to Chanute Kansas

Was on a car trip to the Oklahoma panhandle. Figured I was within 100 miles if Chanute where they used to make NuWa. So I took a slight detour and stopped to see the top of the line 5ers.

I saw Lifestyle, NuWa, and DRV Mobile Suits. It was a very impressive inventory. They have turned the old NuWa factory complex into a sales/repair facility. The salesman was wearing his NuWa shirt. Kinda sad to see 2013 as the last model year for NuWa. They were the original !!!

Anyway - you probably can not go wrong with with any of these well built units. I kinda liked the Lifestyle the best by a tiny margin. The Lifestyle uses two 2 X 6 box sections welded together to make a 2 X 12 boxed frame. The roof tresses were also impressive. NuWa used a 12" C channel frame.

I did not make it to Peterson Industries but seeing an Excel is on my list of 5ers to check out.

Probably the oddest thing I saw was a newer F-250 with air springs delivering a 38' Mobil Suits. I talked to the driver who told me the Mobile Suits was making his truck squirrelly....duh. I simply said you need a dually. The salesman said he has never seen a delivery company use a F-250 and shrugged it off as they deliver and we receive.

All in all - if you are within 100 miles it is worth it to stop in.

Since you pointed out the Lifestyle's 12" frame, I'm surprised you didn't mention the 15" stacked box frame used on the Mobile Suites - 2 x 6 stacked on 2 x 6 with a 2 x 3 stacked on top, all welded together.

It was indeed sad to see NuWa close down production.

We will be heading to Chanute in June. Since we still w@#k I want to have them check all the caulking on our rig - hasn't leaked yet, and don't want it to.

While we are in the area we will look at the 5ers they have at NuWa. Will also visit the Excel, New Horizons and Space Craft factories. Since NuWa is no longer manufacturing, and we will be looking for a new full-time rig when we retire in a couple of years, we are starting our research now.
