making the ?

We currently are in a Class A, 30ft, pulling a trailer. We are not happy with this arrangement as we have no "go vehicle" when we get somewhere. Driving this monster to Walmart for something while we are in the middle of a show is not my idea of common sense. So....we WERE looking for a Class C toy hauler, about 40 feet with slides. We could then stow our trade show product and tow a vehicle. Having looked and looked, it doesn't appear like we are going to find the layout of the living quarters (nice bed area etc) as we would like, so we are now looking at 5th wheel toy haulers.
1. with about 1500 to 3,000 pounds of product weight in the bay, are we going to have issues with handling?
2. what size/kind of truck would be the best and most practical to purchase to haul this with? Gas? Diesel? 3/4 ton? 1 ton? ????
3. hubby is concerned about wind and the height of the units..do you find this is any more of a problem than with the Class A's?
4. I know everyone has their favorite make/model, but any comments as to why would be appreciated.
We will be searching for several months before making a decision, but would like to start out with a good foundation of knowledge from folks who have 'been there, done that'

1. 5th Wheel toy haulers are usually designed to carry motorcycles, ATV's or cars in the bay. That should be more than comparable to your product weight.
2/3. We tow a 23k pound 41 foot fifth wheel with a Ford F450 diesel dually with plenty of power for hills.
4. If you want to make sure that you have a trailer that meets all of your needs, check out Motomover | New Horizons RV | Luxury Full Time RV & Custom Fifth Wheels . You can take a design and customize it to your needs, more/less cabinets, drawers, shelves, floor space. Depending on the weight you are carrying, I would suggest disc brakes on the trailer. You can even get anti-skid brakes these days on the trailer.

Question: How big is the trailer you are going to tow?

Question 2: How big (And heavy) is something like say a Dodge 3/4 Ton maxi van (The one I had was like 3500 pounds curb weight).

Suggestion: Should be obvious from questions.

Tow van (4 down please) instead of trailer.. True you can't back up, but then you don't often have to, you can drop the van and back it up independent of the MH, plus if your show place is remote from your campsite, NOT a problem
Home is where I park it!
