Ok, I bought a 2003 Jayco Jayflight rear bunk fith wheel that was a caryover this spring. My wife and I go the the Kansas State fair in Sept. and of course they have RV's there. so we look around and we walk into a MAKO by Gulf Stream and my wifes jaws drops to the floor, eyes get real big and she lets out a loud "I LIKE IT!!!!". I thinking "OH NO!" and do the husband thing and go to find the salesman and ask how much. So my question is
1. Does anyone know the quality of MAKO, they seem built really well.
2. Any one want to buy a Jay-Flight?????

If you are seriously looking at he MAKO, pay very careful attention to the fit an finish work. My wife and I looked at a 2004 MAKO bunkhouse and found a lot of poor / shody work with the cabinents. Finish boards that were hanging loose. Cabinet doors that were misaligned, etc. The units that we saw were all dirty with saw dust and had dead bugs in the light fixtures. One unit was being canibalized for parts to fix other units. I was not impressed.

We looked at some in 2001 prior to buying our current rig. I seem to remember that they did not have much cargo weight capacity. In other words, an empty unit weighed close to it's maximum allowable weight, leaving very little left for "stuff".

I have one, and we are very happy with it. We choose it over the (very similiar)Cougar and Wildcat as the quality was better. (The newer ones may have gone downhill as dutchmen did from 90 to 95). You still pretty much get what you pay for...........

My daughter and her husband/3 kids have a Mako for about 3 years now, a bunkhouse model. They use it a LOT and it has been trouble free.

We have a Prairie Schooner by the same manufacturer and are extremely pleased with it's reliability.
