Max bunk bed weight.

Hey all, I have a 1995 Terry 25 5G 5th wheel. I have a question about the max weight for the top bunk? The print on the front of the bunk says Max Weight of 150 lbs, has anyone had experiance with this and is this the max the bed will hold, or is it able to hold more and if so, what is the most it will hold? The reason I ask is that my daughter is a little over this weight and I don't want her to be at risk of breaking the bed and hurting herself.

Stanley,

I have absolutely no experience with your inquiry and your particular model. With that being said you could test the fixture with weights/sand/salt/kitty litter you name it to ensure that the bed will hold up to your daughters weight plus a safety factor for her moving around/hopping to get up there.

Surely additional bracing or other things could be done to increase the weight carrying capacity of the bunk as well.

Manufacturers generally put a weight rating on bunks for a reason. They feel that weight is a safe weight for sustained use. personally, I'd stick to the limit posted. It all depends on how well the bunk is anchored to the walls and the supports in the bottom.

Welcome to iRV2.
