Modifications I have made to my Excel...

The only thing I am concerned about is if the Dicor will hold the cable to the roof without me having to penetrate the roof.

The Excel sets itself up well to solar. The inverter and controller are within a couple of feet of the batteries.

Installing the propane disconnect was fairly simple in that it was much easier to get to behind the cabinet than I thought.

I am pleased with my new rig so far.

Curious to know why you want a propane disconnect inside your rig.

Nice job! I really like the solar setup on our Wild Cargo. The new battery box cleans things up but limits you to 4-6volts. We had PI make a larger battery compartment so we could fit 8-6volt batteries. We are currently using 6-6volt batteries with 705watts from 3 panels.

Good deal, this would work well where we are camp hosting this summer in the Colorado Rockies with no power to the host site. Being limited to two batteries, we have 250 watts of solar, but find our batteries are typically still 90% full in the morning. We practice extreme conservation though, but fortunately our dish network boots up relatively quickly in the grand scheme of things. We converted over to 99% LED lighting & only have a 19" LED TV.

One thing about it, if you Boondock you have to take extreme measures to control ants & mice. Our Excel's got overrun with them almost overnight on our family farm. I couldn't believe the open holes the factory left where wire harnesses entered portions of the underbelly, etc. I used a huge roll of Gorilla tape to seal many of them up, but it only slowed them down (don't even ask about the Box Elder Bugs or the orange Lady Beetles!).

I wish this new mouse/ant stuff was available a couple years ago, I see it advertised here on IRV2:

Very Nice setup.

Interested in your setup. Care to share?
Did you install an auto transfer switch system?

I'll share anything I know. The transfer switch is in the Magnum MS 2012.

I'm trying to learn solar power so the questions could be ignorant.
Did you install a master shut off switch after the Magnum 2012 or is it built in?
The AC powered TV's, COFFEE pot etc will power from the battery / inverter up to the 2000 watt?

I have a remote controller in the living area for the Magnum. I will attempt to post it here: (Hope that came out ok.)
The remote controls all aspects of the inverter's performance. The inverter in my case is fed off a 30 amp breaker in the main 50 amp distribution panel. The inverter then feeds another 30 amp breaker controlling/feeding the inverted circuits in the circuit panel. When not hooked up to shore power the inverter is powered from the batteries and feeds the inverted circuits ac power. When on shore power the inverter acts as a pass-thru device to feed the inverted circuits and the inverter is dormant via the transfer switch. The inverter also has a charger which is active when on shore power. When off shore power the batteries are charged thru the solar panels. The second and third pictures depict the solar side. Keep in mind that the inverter and solar are two separate systems that only come together at the batteries. So, to answer your question, I can control the inverter with the remote, circuit breaker or a switch on the inverter.

TTS,

Did you use a Magnum BMK to monitor your batteries on the remote display?
