I was told I should have the dealer or myself use a moisture meter and see if there is any problems in this 2004 Wilderness I posted about, but one would need to know what are good and bad readings, anyone ever done this?
Anybody know what level to look for?
This one seems really good, but just something someone mentioned to either get them to do or do it myself by borrowing the dealers meter while at the lot.

\\The best meter is your nose. Does it smell musty or moldy?

If you try to measure the moisture level, it will be very dependent on the humidity that day.

Also, on a 2004, check it VERY closely for any signs of water damage.

I see you corrected the post, the e-mail reply said 1994, anyway, yes it smells good, looks great, found paperwork when we looked at it from a gas recert and it was a dutch fellow that had it, his address was Holland, so the previous owner obviously came over toured around then sold it.
Funny thing is, my in-laws are from Holland.
So I will not worry about what the guy at work said, as to me it is fine.

Moisture behind the interior paneling is the main issue. When insulation and wood framing become wet they stay that way until the paneling is removed to expose it to open, moving air. A moisture meter is overkill, like previously posted, your nose is the best detector, then feeling interior walls with your hands for clammy surfaces.

Is this what you are looking for? Problem is it will only tell about the relative moisture at the ons area.

If you do elect to use a pin type moisture meter, don't trust readings on particleboard or MDF. Sometimes salt is added to the resin and it really messes up the conductivity. Pin type meters work reasonably well on solid wood up to about 30%.

I agree with other posters that a moisture meter is really overkill, you'll know if you find high moisture content by look, feel, smell, etc.
