Mor ryde IS
Has anybody priced it lately?
Since this fulltime traveling thing looks like its gonna stick, I want to upgrade the suspension on the rv.
Thinking of moving to the 8k Moryde IS and 17.5 tires and matching rims.
Anybody seen the price tag on this lately?

That upgrade will separate you from about 5 $1000 dollar bills
Great upgrade but it is not cheap

We had Mor Ryde IS and disc brakes added to our Landmark last December...cost was just under $5,000...already had 17.5 tires and rims which cost us around $2,700.
Will never have a rig without either of these options ever again...worth every penny!!

kakampers - so you can really tell the difference with those disc brakes? Can you tell me approx. how much better they are?

The difference is amazing...when using the manual function on the brake controller...the trailer disc brakes can stop the entire rig...truck included, and our rig is close to 28,000 pounds...
When applying the brakes when towing there is no hesitation and rig stops solidly and with ease, within a very reasonable distance, even during a panic stop.

Thank you. I've towed trailers with the disc brake set-up and it was such a better experience. I used to build and deliver 32-47ft boats up and down the east coast. With a 24k trailer with 3 8k axles with brakes on each axle stopping wasn't an issue.

We had the 8K Mor/ryde IS installed on our RW last spring, cost with tax $3200. Already had factory installed Disc and had upgraded to the 17.5 wheels and tires (approx $600/tire & wheel, mounted and balanced) prior to the IS.
We had done the IS/Disc brake upgrade on our previous Montana and knew it was going to be a must on the RW.
As for the Disc, we will never have another RV without them. I swear I can stop better with the 17K 40' RV behind us than the TV by its' self.

They use the electric signal from the TV controller to operate an electric hydraulic pump to supply pressure to the Disc. So electric stops at the controller in the front compartment and typical hydraulic line runs from there to the axles and on to each wheels caliper.
Ours is the Kodiak calipers that use standard GM pads.

This is really good information. I am thinking 8,000lb.axles with disc brakes are the way to go. I see this as an option in the Trilogy and Redwood brochure. Will check others like Excel, DRV, LifeStyle as I am sure they will also offer this option.

If you are looking at Trilogy and Redwood, take a look at Landmark. They too offer 17.5 the tires and disc brakes, but they have a 2+5 warranty...

kakampers - Thanks, I think I will check out the Landmark. I am seeing more Heartland 5th Wheels in the RV Park that I am in now. A few nice looking Landmarks and several Big Country rigs. Heartland must be doing something right.
