Motorcycles and fivers

We recently retired and are thinking about full time rving and moving seasonally, or a little more than that. Basically go some place and set for a month or two then move on again and basically see everything we always wanted to. But here is our delima. We love to ride a motorcycle and would have to have one with us. We currently have a 45' coach and have a few options....trailer with bike and car, lift on back of coach and tow a car, or truck with bike in back.

But becasue of the expense of the coach to own and maintain we can't live with it only on retirement income. so we are considering moving to a fiver.....BUT short of pulling a toy hauler (which is not ideal for full time living) what are some avenues for also having a touring bike with us?

I am starting to see some toy haulers that are advertised as full year, four season living, but you lose so much living room becasue of the toy box.

Any ideas?

Look at Mountain Master Trucks . They have a hauler that attaches to the rear of the 5er and puts very little weight on it. Also Idaho Tote. Hope this helps

Yes the swivel wheels. The mountain master is a lot smaller and designed to work with their loader.

We have been traveling extensively with a toyhauler. The garage isn't really give away space. When we are going to be somewhere more than a couple of days, we take the bikes out, let down the seats, put up the table, and use the space like a breakfast nook. The challenge is finding a touyhauler that would be OK in cold weather. Of course, if you are full timing and riding, you want to keep yourself in warm spots.

We have been using a swivel wheel for a couple years. Traveling east of Ohio and in California is an issue though with it (If you run into a lawman with nothing better to do).


The Alfa is a real interesting new idea. Like it much.


XLR 385AMP was a great design for one bike, but they redesigned the bedroom, losing the excellent storage, TV and fireplace placement, so they kind of ruined it after 2014. Still an option.

What is the risk with police for a swivel wheel deck in CA?

The only issues I am aware of is over-length.

I have "read" that there is an issue with double towing not allowed in California. Technically, it's an extension. But who wants to have that fight on the side of the road.

You could be right(?) While you were typing, I read on the Cruiserlift website that CA police might consider it a trailer and therefore need an endorsement for triple towing (towing doubles).
