My '97 Jayco Eagle 5th wheel...SMELLS. How to get rid of it??

It could be pet odor in the carpet. Try a pet carpet liquid deoderizer. or replace the carpet and pad.

I washed down all the walls with either a spray cleaner or a bleach solution. I scrubbed the vinyl flooring in the kitchen and bathroom. I washed all the bathroom. I took down and washed all curtains. I polished the wood table and cleaned all the blinds.

The carpet? Yes, it had stains and looked 12 years old. The previous owner, who owned a carpet cleaning business, claimed he cleaned it. Not. I got on my hands and knees with a cleaning solution, and scrubbed it, then wiped it with a towel. All of it. Even did that with the couch.

No, it's not a rotting animal odor. Yes, I have been using an odor neutralizer. The latter definitely leaves a pleasant smell. But after a few days, the odor is back.

To describe the odor is hard. It's like an old smell of a 12 year old used 5th wheel? Not sure. But I hate it.

Any ideas? Could it still be the carpet?

Odor-ban from Sam's club has worked for us to remove musty smells from things. Can't say it will work for you, but there's always hope.

We purchased a used travel trailer which had an odd odor. I went through the cleaning ritual and even used a commercial steamer on everything. For the life of me I could not get rid of that odor. It didn't seem to be the tanks, didn't find any mold and didn't have any carpet. To this day I have no idea where the smell came from. The steaming seemed to help most. We didn't get rid of the smell until last weekend...when we bought a new trailer. Hope you have much better luck than we did!

Are you sure you do not have a leak. That will leave a damp and musty odor. If mold is there, it can small worse.

I wonder if we have the same smell??? Our TT had an overwhelming smell when we bought it from our neighbors. It had been closed up for a long time and had some water damage. We tore out the front bedroom where the water had seeped in on both front corners. We tore it back to where we no longer saw any water damage. Sealed up the wood (studs were still solid) replaced insulation, luan, wood sub floor and carpeting. We thought we had it taken care of the odor but there still is a faint smell that we just can seem to locate. Sometimes we think it is coming from the ceiling vent in that same room but havent gotten to check it out yet. It is bearable, especially after spraying febreeze but seems to be worse at night (not sure if it is a condensation issue either). It reminds me of a chemical smell (similar to a womans perm solution but not exactly the same) Maybe between the two of us we can get the bottom of this. I just have a feeling it has something to do with moisture somehow????? Good Luck!
