Need a teenage kid.....

Well, my two kids are grown....but I could sure use my son around! Trailer is due for a cleaning, as it made the dirty trip to Alaska and back to the lower 48. I've done a couple quick washes, but today I started the wash/wax that it desperately needed. Even with a DA polisher, this sucker takes a long time to clean and wax! Need my son to do some of the work...but, alas, he's not here, so I guess the project continues tomorrow.

You are implying a teenage would put down the smart phone long enough to do some work.

I don't mind the washing as long as I don't have to get on the roof or a ladder. Now waxing is a different story. I'm looking at going to Wash Wax All for a on-ground solution. A little pricy but maybe cheeper than a teenager if you can find one

My grandchildren won't put down the electronics either. Not even with the offer of good money.

Not to harp on today's teenagers just to illustrate a difference. As I teenage I did my fair share of avoiding work. But I offerend a teenager $25 to mow my grass. It takes 45 minutes. He refused. To me $25 cash for 45 minutes of work is like getting $33 then being taxed.

Anyway, as a teenager I always jumped at any opportunity to make money. Wash a car for $2 back in the day, I was your teenager.

I was always hustling for a buck when I was a kid as well. I guess I should have specified...need my own teenager! If they're yours, they can be persuaded to do the work...most of the time. Although one of the nice things about my son being on his own now is that when he visits, he's pretty helpful.

If you are near a truck stop , go in and look for a bulletin board . Many places have truck detailers info .And like everything else , some are good and some are bad . Many times you can see their work right there too.

Teens won't even change a flat tire now, assuming they even know how. Why would they do any thing like work?!

When I was a teen, I cut lawns in my neighborhood for $3.00. Delivered papers on my Schwinn bike and made $5.60 per week if all my customers paid (which they didn't). Me and a buddy would wash and wax cars for $20.

My father had his own business and made a good living so we had what we needed. However, me and my brothers were expected to work for what we wanted. It was a good lesson. If you can't find a teenager who will do some work for money, I suspect their parent/s have spoiled them or otherwise not taught them an important life lesson.

I have a twenty year old. In college on her own. Working her way thru. She just bought her second car for 2k. I have a senior in highschool who just quit a fast food job to babysit. Less hours and more money. She and her friends just got back from a road trip to visit several colleges. She paid for the whole trip herself. Not all teenagers are lazy.

I will lend you my 2.5 yr old... Knows how to change oil, clean motorhome, worked on electrical outlets today, replaced halogen marker lights, and even crawled under motor home to fix a bad ground wire....
