My 5er has 2 slides, one in the bunk and one super for the U-dinette and sofa. Is there any need to put some kind of support under them when out?

No. In fact, they can damage the 5th wheel should the 5th wheel settle with jacks holding the slideouts in place.

Some years ago a company sold collapsible supports for this purpose. They stabilized the trailer, but would collapse when overloaded to prevent damaging the trailer slide room. Haven't seen them advertised for a long time. Guess that speaks to their effectiveness.

My Alfa 5th wheel manual says specifically NOT to use slide supports. No reason given though.
