Startup builder Open Range RV Co., Shipshewana, Ind., will debut its new lightweight, wide-body fifth-wheel in an after-hours showing at a remote location during the National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Ky.
Randy Graber, founder and president of the company, said that the Open Range fifth-wheel won't be exhibited at the Kentucky Exposition Center because there wasn't any space available by the time the company incorporated in early August.
"We're hoping to show a number of dealers our first product line during the Louisville show," said Graber. "We think this will be a timely introduction for several reasons, one of which is that we've taken a new approach to building fifth-wheels."
Open Range launched production last week of their new "mid- to upper-priced" fifth-wheel lineup in a 130,000-square-foot, three-building manufacturing facility in Shipshewana. Graber said that the Open Range line would be offered in multiple lengths with double and triple-slide floorplans.
Open Range currently employs about 40 people and expects to increase to 100 by year-end. Graber said the company also wants to establish 150 to 200 dealers throughout the U.S. and Canada.
"We're hoping to show a number of dealers our first product line during the Louisville show," said Graber. "We think this will be a timely introduction for several reasons, one of which is that we've taken a new approach to building fifth-wheels."
