Newmar used to make 5th wheels, but they were expensive and heavy.

Airmech,I see the EXCEL logo in your profile my previous 5th wheel was an Excel limited we liked it a lot...But to answer your question there is no such thing as a new "quality" 5th wheel in the $30k-$50k price range...But there are a some hardly used second hand ones out there I'm sure...I would look for a 6-8 year old DRV,Carriage,Excel,or New Horizon...Believe me there are some good ones out there but you are going to have to be patient and shop...

You're an A&P, you'll be fine and you'll be on top of it. Very few have "big" issues out of the gate and a good inspection will help. It's just the little stuff - and that first shake down that will net some issues, absolutely nothing an A&P can't handle.

Again, "quality" (not more features) comes in at the $100k+ range... Below that, you're generally getting the same designs with some variations in warranty and customer support.

Cypressloser, that floorplan is more common. The one we are looking at is more like a standard rear entertainment floorplan with the bunk room just behind the bathroom on the drivers side.

Suiteowner, I setup my account in anticipation of getting an excel. Well due to vet bills and other life issues, as well as there closing, I am looking at a lower price range now. Been without a camper for far too long and its just time to join the rv community again.

Cb1000rider, thanks for the input. Makes the buying desicion a little easier.
