This past weekend I Looked at 2003 and 2002 Mountain Aire products at PPL in Houston.I went down to assist a friend and with interest in the 2003 for I was considering the Torry Pine new units. I was extremely shocked at the interior quality .The radius wrap alu. at the roof sides sent flags up also .I did not count the screw holes on the roof mounting edges lets say a lot.I have always watched with envy and the 1 day thought. I will gladly hold onto my King of the Road and redirect my search. Keep the dust on ya boot BKF

Given the fact that you're looking at three year old units, one might wonder whether or not the quality control improved in the past three years.

As an owner of a new motorized Newmar product I had the opportunity to tour the production facility less than a month ago and having toured several other towable manufacturers facilities I can assure you the quality at Newmar is at or above what I've seen in my travels...
For the record I've toured the facilities of Jayco,Carriage,Winnebago and most recently Newmar.

I went to the lot with the mindset of my friend or I seriously considering this unit. I have only been in older newmar 5ers and a few coaches. I have heard very little about past problems and quality control at Newmar other than ordering parts direct.I have seen many midline units with upgrades to high end. I had never seen high end stripped back for $$$ savings which this appears the case of the interior. It was just nowhere near what I expected in or out but the full paint was nice. Guess I place things on a pedestal to knock them off.Keep the dust on ya boot.

Our unit is 3.5 years old. We are MOST pleased with Newmar, our dealer, and the excellent quality of product and service. Is Newmar perfect? NO! Will the stand behind their product and resolve issues? YES!

Every issue on my unit was quickly repaired. My punch list was minimal. My Kountry Star 5th wheel is not the Cadillac of their product line, but they treated me like their most important customer.

I agree that the 1st year of the Torrey Pine was less than Newmar's normal quality. In my opinion! The 2nd year of the Torrey Pine saw an increase in quality, However I still do not beleive it matches the quality of my Kountry Star 5er. I'm glad I bought it when I did.

The current Kountry Aire is the old Mountain Aire. Newmar dropped the top end model and relabeled the next model down.

So if you were looking at 2002/2003 Mountain Aires against Torry Pines, the two are in totally different classes. The Torry Pine is a lower class model.

Traded a Kountry Star fifth against the Dutch Star MH. Looked at others but really wouldn't consider going outside the Newmar family.
