No.1 cause for RV damage?

What is the number one cause or reason for RV damage.

Roof damage from things like tree limbs, gas stations, tunnels, overpasses.

Damage as a result of RV tire blowouts or wheel bearing failures

Accident damage as a result of on road vehicle collisions.

Water damage from leaks due to seal or caulking failures or other causes

Damage to structure from stresses sustained from bad roads, hitches, king pins.

Anything else.

Water is the biggest culprit in my opinion.

I have to say water also closely followed by shoddy workmanship/materials during building.

Moving vehicle hitting a stationary item. That includes other vehicles, trees, branches, fuel islands, curbs, rocks, downed trees, gates, fence posts, and anything else large enough to cause scrapes, scratches, cracks, dings, and punctured tires.

UV exposure which leads to deterioration of caulking and seals and the roofing membrane. Exacerbated by lack of maintenance, the water then permeates and wrecks the RV.

UV exposure also fades and breaks down fiberglass surfaces, interior fabrics and tires.

Well all of them fall into this category because who else is responsible for running into stuff or failing to maintain operating conditions. I can't blame you or my neighbor for any of it. I guess the question then becomes what it the number one owner / operator error?

Is that quantifiable? If you use it two months per year but keep it protected from the elements and maintained while sitting, is that going to result in RV damage just because it sits 10 months/yr. What if it's used 4 or 6 months per year? Is that enough? I think it's obvious if you park it in a field for 3 years and neglect it altogether. Is that what you mean?
