We looked at conventional toy haulers but just hate having the living space "scrunched" by the garage. Most are built basically as a 30' trailer with a garage on the back. Yeah you can use the garage space but you have to pull they toys out and it is still utilitarian. We especially hate the couch looking at the kitchen layout that everyone except for Grand design has. Grand Design does have an L shaped couch option where at least part of the couch looks at the TV in the so called living room area but even on that your crunched up just a few feet from the tv..... Not to mention that you typically are losing the top half of the garage to empty space anyway.....few toys are that tall.
If we were NOT going to buy a toyhauler we really like the rear bedroom front living room 5th wheels. The idea of having a dedicated living room just like we have at home really appeals to us. It makes entertaining inside the unit so much nicer too (not to mention that on that rare occasion when we do have guests sleeping in our unit the separate living room area feels much more private when it is up front and partially separated from the kitchen.
And that is why we really like the Grand Design 376 floorplan. It has all the features that we want in a non toyhauler but it still has some function as a toy hauler.
