Where's a good place to get your TV serviced , I drive a diesel pickup, I usually get it done at Ram dealer in my hometown , but when your traveling the Ram dealers could be too pricey in towns you go through. ?

Walmart...it's where I have my diesel's oil changed.

Or they could be cheaper....we've spent 6 months out of 12 in CA the past 8 years. CA is expensive for everything. We've had the oil changed in AR, LA, MT, AZ and all were cheaper than CA. We usually check the dealer price first, then go to the quick oil change place like Texaco or some other brand, never Jiffy Lube. Never had a problem.

I all so drive a diesel pickup, GMC and have taken it to the dealer were ever I am and get very good service & price. Stay with the dealer they no there trucks I hope they do anyway.

I do all my own oil/filter changes along with fuel filters, trans filters, air filters etc. and do all necessary service prior to each long trip. I have had to do a few dealer services on the road but always feel like I got ripped off, $48 for an OEM fuel filter that I buy the identical Parker item for $8 and $55 for labor...!!! I replaced my drain valve with a Fumoto valve and it would be easy to do an oil change "on the road" with an appropriate 12 qt drain pan but disposing of the oil might be a problem.

Stay with the dealer for oil changes and make sure they grease the front drive shaft, if you have a 4X4. Most oil change places like Jiffy/Wally World (Walmart) will not grease the drive shaft for you.

Another point is the oil filter that will be used may not be a Fleetguard/Mopar oil filter. The quick change places tend to use low cost poorly manufactured oil filters that should not be used on your truck. The Mopar oil filter is a rebadged Standard Oil Filter that is made by Fleetgaurd.

I use the Fleetgaurd Stratepore oil filter that is the same oil filter for all 5.9L (89) to 6.7L (14) engines part number is LF16035. I also carry one in the truck at all times along with two extra fuel filters for my truck.

Those of us that are full time can't change our own oil. I use Kwik kar around Texas and whatever I am satisfied with their products in other states.

I change mine myself on the road same as at home. I installed the Fumoto drain valve with the nipple I can attach a short hose to, drain into jugs and take to Wal-Mart where I bought the oil I am putting in. I carry fuel and oil filters purchased from Genos Garage.

What year truck do you own? If it is a 2013.5 and later Cummins is recommending using full synthetic oil such as Rotella T6 5W-40. The scheduled oil changes should be around 10,000 miles or when the engine algorithm tells you to change.Another way to check when an oil change is required is too monitor the oil condition. You will need to buy a kit that allows you to do oil sampling and change the oil based on the lab recommendations, which is what I do on my truck. Amsoil, Polaris labs and Blackstone Labs are some of the labs that offer oil monitoring services. I use the Polaris Lab which is the Cummins/Fleetguard lab for my requirements.

Ours is a 2012 Ram Diesel, change oil when computer tells me !

We have a 2012 Dodge diesel and change the oil every 5000 miles with Rotella Synthetic. We have found most places do a poor job of changing the oil, especially Wal-Mart. We use a Dodge dealer and we supply everything including the oil and fuel filter if necessary.

What's nice about a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck is that it's so easy to get under them to change the oil. It's just a simple 20 minute job that can be done anywhere.

I drain my oil into a closed top 15 quart plastic oil pan. With my funnel, I return the old oil to the 3 jugs the new oil came in. And I return my oil to Walmart.

Cost: $17.23 (5 qts.) x 3=$51.69 plus F1995 oil filter $9.44

Sometimes, laying under my truck draining oil is the most peaceful time of my busy week. I really enjoy maintaining my vehicles.
