we looked at a Bighorn with a residential fridge today, it was really nice but not quite the floor plan we wanted. The one that we liked did not have the residential fridge but I am not sure that is a big deal to me. The Solitude was also very nice but I want the microwave that is also a convection oven which is not what they have. However I was told they could replace the one in the Solitude with a microwave/convection. We are still considering the Alpine so no decision yet. All of our options have the 6 point auto-levelling.
Any 5W we get will weigh less than 1,000 pounds more than what we currently have (dry weight). We just recently used our new truck when we pulled over North Pass and Monarch Pass and it didn't seem to have any problem with those. I am not an expert on this towing but my husband has a big stock trailer and has moved cattle a lot of times where, he says, the weight is more than what we are pulling when we pull the 5W. With this weight he does not want to go to a dually, just buy the best tires for 4 wheels instead of 6. All I can say is, this has worked out for us so far. Still, we live and learn and no doubt is it is better to have more power, more wheels on the ground than you might absolutely need so I sure understand folks who make a different decision than ours.
Actually, we don't plan to pull all over the country. Basically south in the winter and north in the summer. Vacation trips will be made without taking the 5th wheel. There will likely be some exceptions
