PD4655TV 55 Amp Converter possible issue

Im not sure whats going on with this issue but my new convertor I installed last month does not appear to be working correctly. It does not automatically switch from the 14.4 volts mode to 13.6 volt normal mode even after hours and hours of charge. The batteries are new and fully charged at 12.7 volts but the convertor continues to charge in the 14.4 volt mode. I have been just manually putting the convertor into the 13.6 volt as to not damage the batteries. The batteries are 6 volt FullRiver AGM and seem to be high quality but I do check weekly with my digital multimeter to monitor the condition of the batteries and does appear they are in good shape as they hold full charge for weeks while stored at home.

The vendor I bought from suggested I disconnect the batteries to reset the convertor which did work but only until the following day when I hooked up to shore power again in a different park. I think the only option would be another convertor as the batteries do not seem to be the issue. Are there any other ideas of what could be going on here other than convertor issue ?

Is the converter configured for the correct battery type?

Wood Chip,

We may have a similar issue. My recently installed PD9260C does the same thing. I have talked to Progressive Dynamics and it is going in for warranty when I can get a RGA number Monday.

If you have a warranty issue, they will ship you a replacement for a security charge that will be refunded.

While it's in the 14.4 mode, do the batteries read 14.4 volts ?

If they do, it will sit in absorb for a few hours before dropping back. The time should be in the manual.

If they don't reach 14.4, it won't cut back. You may need to run it a longer time, until they do.

Any questionably connections will also confuse the converter.

Use a GOOD volt meter, not a cheapy.

Yes, batteries read the mode in which its in. reads 14.4 volts while in that mode
