I wanted the Anderson Ultimate but was told Anderson did not make a hitch for the factory puck system & would need an adapter plate which would raise the hitch height too high. What do I know?
All that would be needed to run the Andersen is the Goose Neck ball for the center hole in your factory puck system:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...f_rd_i=desktop

I'm fairly confident you could run with a lower rail height clearance than you have now along with greater side rail to rear of pin box clearance ...

Perhaps ask your installing dealer to take take back the hitch you were sold since you could not achieve adequate clearance... they are , afterall, the "experts" and you trusted their recommendation.

Check your Mor-Ryde pin box part number. If it's a Mor-Ryde RPB72-1716-XX, that would indicate it is the extended box, which is 6" longer (3" closer to the truck's side rail at 90 deg) than the Mor-Ryde RPB72-1116-XX. That's probably the problem. If it is, the dealer should have caught that, IMHO.

I'm researching pin box replacements for my 1116 right now. I found a killer deal on a leftover Trailair Tri Glide, but it's a replacement for the 1716. I'm afraid I'll have to pass it up, or else I'll be dealing with the same issues you're having.

Best of luck!

I'm running a 1716 MR on my Ram and have had zero issues going on the 4th season. I'll admit it does seem to get real close to the bed rails but has never came in contact.

I have a retractible cover on mine, so I know the clearance would be really tight with the 1716. I'm about 700 miles from home right now, so I can't measure it to be exact. Thats on my agenda for when I get home.

Where are the numbers located? The only # I found other then the Lipert sn# is "16162" (not stamped) on the front of the pin box.

Thanks

On the left (driver's) side of the hitch, in front of the blue Mor Ryde sticker, you should see a black sticker with a part number on it. The number will begin with RPB72. The rest of the number indicates pin box length (short/medium/extended) and the rubber spring rate.

Should look something like this one I found on the Internet.

They make a short version of that pin box. I would not have an extended box. There is no extension on mine and it is fine like that. All extensions add stress to your upper frame in that area. Think of the lever effect.

Here's a link to the identification guide at Mor Ryde's web site. It has all the dimensions on it, and will help you see how one model differs from another.

Best of luck!

Thank you all who have responded, Army Nurse, thanks for the valuable information. There are no stickers or numbers near the MorRyde label, got me wondering if the dealer took them off. I will be calling the dealer and MorRyde. I had the 5th wheel hitch installed locally, not by the dealer where I bought the trailer. The guy that installed the hitch believes the pin box is too long & the dealer should replace it (and pay for the damage). I am concerned that there are no MorRyde numbers on the pin box, makes me wonder. We start camp hosting in Oregon on July 1st for 2 months so I will have to deal with this in Sept.
Again, I appreciate all who have answered, I now have the information I need to go forward when I talk to the dealer and MorRyde.

You can still identify the model by using the dimensions in that link I posted. I agree, if they installed a pin box that was too long, they should make it right. I hope that works out for you.
